Private driveway parking: what to check before booking
A nearby driveway can be a useful parking option only when the space fits your car, covers your whole stay and has clear arrival instructions. Start with these checks before making plans around a listing.

1. Check your vehicle against the actual space
Start with the vehicle size accepted by the listing, then look carefully at the photos and parking instructions. A car pictured in a driveway is an example of that car in that position. It is not proof that a longer, wider or taller vehicle will fit.
Consider the room needed to open doors and unload, along with any narrow entrance or visible obstacle. If the listing does not answer a fit question, ask through the available listing or booking contact flow before relying on it. Do not enter the host’s home to resolve a parking question.
Illustrative example: a driver comparing two spaces should check the dimensions and access instructions for their own vehicle rather than choose solely by the distance shown on the map. This example does not describe an actual Curbi listing or booking.
Use the vehicle-and-space measurement checklist to compare your car’s dimensions with the usable area and entrance.
2. Understand what the green-marked photo shows
Curbi uses a marked area in listing photos to explain where a vehicle should be parked. Treat that area as a parking instruction. It does not establish a property boundary, measure the space or prove that the host has permission to rent it.
The intended booking is for a vehicle space at the property, with outdoor driveways at single-family homes as Curbi’s primary focus. It does not include access to the house. Stay within the designated parking area and follow the confirmed arrival instructions.
Look beyond the rectangle: can the vehicle remain wholly inside the offered space? Does its position leave the public sidewalk clear? Is another independent space or entrance being blocked?
Before choosing a space, check the current local parking guidance for its location. For San Francisco, start with SFMTA’s driveway guide. Bay Area cities have separate jurisdictions; use the relevant city’s official information for local questions.
A parking space on a public street is not a Curbi private driveway listing. A driveway booking does not grant permission to occupy the curb outside it.
3. Check the entire stay, including your departure
Choose both arrival and departure before comparing a quote. Availability for the first hour does not mean that the space is offered for the rest of your visit. The booking model checks the complete selected interval, and each host can offer a shorter maximum stay.
Curbi’s configured initial ceiling for private parking is seven days where multi-day parking is enabled, the host allows it and the whole interval is available. The current service configuration or the space’s own limits may allow less. This is a ceiling, not a promise that any space offers seven-day parking.
Choose the dates and times for your visit
An hourly, daily or overnight label alone does not establish a midnight cutoff or a 24-hour stay. Check the actual arrival and departure dates and local times.
Hypothetical planning examples: these do not describe available spaces or actual bookings.
- A short appointment: include time to arrive and return to the car, then check the space’s minimum stay.
- An overnight visit: check the departure date and coverage across midnight; an available evening portion is insufficient.
- A visit spanning several days: check for gaps or blocked time throughout the stay and confirm the permitted maximum.
Allow for the time you reasonably need to return to the car. Do not assume you can extend later. Curbi’s published extension flow changes the departure only after the additional time is available and the extension is confirmed. The public site currently describes extension payments as TEST.
4. Review the total and the confirmation step
Use the current quote for the selected space, vehicle and interval. An hourly headline is not necessarily the total for your stay. Review the full amount, any itemized fees and the applicable cancellation terms before deciding to pay.
Some spaces require host approval. An unapproved request is not the same as a confirmed booking. Curbi’s published privacy model keeps the exact address and access instructions protected until the required confirmation steps are complete. A public map shows an approximate area.
If charging is offered and enabled for a particular space, review it as an optional service with its own compatibility and price details. Do not assume every driveway has a charger. Paid EV charging availability has not been verified for launch.
Keep parking payments separate from wallet funding and host plans. A wallet top-up is not a quoted parking price, and a host subscription is not a monthly parking reservation. Read Curbi’s current terms for the rules that apply to your account and booking.
5. Arrive using the confirmed instructions
Before driving to the space, review the confirmed address, entry route, designated parking area and departure time in your booking. Keep access information private. Do not put an address, entry code or vehicle plate into a public post or review.
On arrival, compare the space with the instructions. If it is occupied, inaccessible or clearly unsuitable for the vehicle, use the available host or Curbi support contact route. Do not move another vehicle, improvise a street space or enter a private home to make the booking work.
Once parked, use the route to the public sidewalk described in the instructions and keep pedestrian access clear. Return within the confirmed interval unless an extension has actually been confirmed.

This checklist uses Curbi’s published driver instructions, its address-privacy explanation and current launch limitations. Product details were reviewed against Curbi’s published instructions and booking requirements; the current service and the individual space determine the permitted stay. The SFMTA driveway guide is linked for readers to check local guidance directly; this checklist does not interpret local parking law or establish permission to rent a space.
